Safety guide

  • There is a high tension inside the digital totems, please do not open the lid to avoid electric shocks.
  • Maintenance of digital totems must be performed by qualified technical personnel.
  • Improper operation may result in electric shock or fire.
  • To use the totem safely and safely, read the following safety precautions carefully before use.

Before using this unit, please read and understand the operating instructions first.

  • Properly save this instruction manual for future needs.
  • Pay particular attention to safety instructions and warnings and strictly follow the warning instructions (notes) in the manual.
  • Use all instructions for use in a timely manner.
  • Do not use accessories that are not recommended by the manufacturer, improper use may result in unexpected totem failure.
  • Use the totem with the supplied power cord. Before using the appliance, check the power requirements of the appliance if it is suitable for local power conditions. If you are unable to determine the type of energy you are using, please contact your local power manufacturer or department.
  • Do not use any object to stop or twist the power cord. Damaged power cord may cause electric shock or fire.
  • Do not attempt to repair the totem yourself, as once the device has been damaged, there will be high voltage or other devices inside the device may cause a variety of hazards.
  • Please make sure that you use qualified personnel for the maintenance of the appliance.
  • Do not touch components that are not mentioned in the user manual.
  • Improper adjustment of components that are not mentioned in the user manual of the damaged unit will increase the difficulty of maintenance for professional and technical personnel.
  • When the appliance needs to be replaced, make sure that the components are specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original parts. Improper use of components may result in fire, electric shock, damage to the advertising device, and / or other hazards.
  • Please unplug the appliance before cleaning it. Use a damp cloth to clean the appliance. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • When the unit will not be used for a long time, please disconnect the power supply.
  • Make sure that there is ventilation in the room and that the ventilation slot of the appliance is not blocked or covered.
  • The LCD panel is made of sensitive materials, please do not use anything to hit the LCD surface. If the unit has been dropped or hit, the LCD panel may be broken. In this case, please stop using the machine immediately.
  • Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight or near sources of heat, such as radiators, heaters, and other hot objects.
  • The time interval between start and stop must not be less than 3 (three) seconds
  • This product is intended for display advertising, promotional material in general, and we do not guarantee results if used for other purposes. To find out exactly what the product may display, please refer to the product data sheet.

Starting the totem for the first time

  1. Plug the power cord into a 220V power outlet.
  2. In the standby mode, press (ON / OFF)   to turn on the totem.
  3. To stop the totem press the  (ON / OFF)  button

Warning
  • You must have an operating system installed for the totem to work.
  • If you have not purchased one, contact the seller to purchase one.
  • If you do not have an operating system, turn off the totem and contact the seller.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power outlet when you have not used the totem for a long time.


Connection

Connecting to a wired network

Connect the totem to a local area network (LAN) via an RJ45 LAN port.

If you have both wired and wireless networks, wired networks are preferred.

After the physical connection is made, for most home / office networks, the totem will automatically connect to them without any adjustment.

For details, contact your ISP or refer to the router manual.

To configure network settings: (Even if your totem is already connected automatically, resetting the settings won't hurt in any way),

Select it if there is no DHCP server on the network or if you want to set the IP address manually.

Open the settings by pressing the START button

  1. In the newly opened screen, type Ethernet and choose Ethernet Settings to access the network card settings.

  1. Navigate to Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4) and press PROPERTIES.

Enter the manual IP and DNS settings.

Automatic IP setting

If there is a DHCP (Router) server on the local area network (LAN) via a wired connection, the totem will be assigned an automatic IP address. If you are using a broadband router or broadband modem that has a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server function. The IP address will be determined automatically.

Warning
  • If you want to access the Internet directly from the totem, the broadband Internet connection must always be active.
  • If you can't access the Internet, check the network conditions on a PC in your network.
  • When using Network Setting, check the LAN cable or check that DHCP on the router is enabled.
  • If you do not complete the network settings, the network may not work properly.
Connection
Connecting to a wireless network

99% of Totem Digital equipment also includes a wireless network card in the standard configuration, which allows you to connect to a wireless network.

However, for those models that do not benefit from this card, there is the possibility of adding a USB WIFI adapter, which is sold separately.

Network configuration and connection method may vary, depending on the equipment used and the network environment. See the setup instructions that came with your access point or wireless router for detailed connection steps and network settings.

The AP (Access Point) or wireless router setting is required before connecting the totem to the network. The easiest method is the WPS button method.

Network setup tips

  • Use a standard LAN cable for this totem. Cat5 or better with RJ45 connector.
  • Most network connection problems that occur during setup can often be resolved by resetting your router or modem. After connecting the player to your home / office network, turn off and / or unplug the power cord of your network router or cable modem for a short time. Then turn on and / or plug in the power cord again.
  • Depending on the Internet Service Provider (ISP), the number of devices that can receive the Internet service may be limited by the terms that govern the service. Contact your ISP for details.
  • TOTEM DIGITAL ROMANIA is not responsible for any malfunction of the totem and / or Internet connection feature due to errors / malfunctions associated with your broadband internet connection or other connected equipment.
  • TOTEM DIGITAL ROMANIA is not responsible for any problems caused by your Internet connection.
  • You may notice unwanted results if the network connection speed does not meet the requirements of the content you are accessing.
  • Some internet connection operations may not be possible due to certain restrictions set by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) providing your broadband internet connection. All charges charged by your ISP, including, but not limited to, connection fees, are your responsibility.
  • A LAN 10 Base-T or 100/1000 Base-TX LAN port is required to connect to this totem when using a wired connection. If your internet service does not allow such a connection, you will not be able to connect the totem.
  • You need a DSL modem to use the DSL service, and a cable modem is required to use the cable modem service. Depending on the access method and the subscriber's contract with your ISP, you may not be able to use the Internet connection feature of this totem, or you may be limited to the number of devices that you can connect at one time. (If your ISP limits your subscription to a device, this totem may not be able to connect when a PC is already connected).
  • Use of a "router" may not be permitted or restricted by ISP policies and restrictions. Contact your ISP directly for details.
  • The wireless network operates at 2.4 GHz radio frequencies, which are also used by other devices, such as the cordless phone, Buetooth® devices, microwave oven, and may be affected by interference from them. May be interrupted by the device using 5 Ghz radio frequencies.
  • Nearby wireless devices can reduce the speed of service using the wireless network.
  • Disconnect any unused network equipment from your network. Some devices may generate network traffic.
  • In some cases, placing the access point or wireless router as close to the floor as possible may improve reception.
  • The quality of wireless reception depends on many factors, such as the type of access point, the distance between the location of the totem, and the access point.
  • To connect through a wireless access point, you need an access point that supports wireless connection, and the wireless connection function of the access point must be turned on. Ask your access point provider for wireless connection to your access point.
  • Check the access point SSID security settings for the wireless connection to the access point, and ask the access point provider for the access point SSID security settings.
  • The totem may operate slowly or malfunction in the event of incorrect network equipment settings (wireless router, hub, etc.). Perform the installation correctly by consulting the equipment manual and setting up the network.
  • When the access point is set to include 802.11n (excluding Russia) and the encryption option is designated as WEP (64/128 bit) or WPA (TKIP / AES), the connection may not be established. Depending on the access point manufacturers, different connection methods may work.

MAINTENANCE

LOCKING systems

The totem is locked with the keys received in the package.

  • With a set of keys, the access door to the power supply of the equipment is locked (starting panel, protective fuses).
  • With the second set, access to the hardware part of the totem is blocked.

Software blocking is done using the SITEKIOSK program

In this way, the unauthorized intervention of the end user at the totem settings will be blocked.

Totem cleaning


Warning
  • First, make sure you turn off the power and unplug the power cord and all other cables.
  • When the totem is left unattended and not used for a long time, it is recommended that a UPS be installed to prevent possible damage due to electric shock or surge.


Update and clean the totem regularly to get the best performance and extend the life of your product.

Screen and frame

To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, soft cloth.

To remove persistent dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or lightly diluted detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

Housing and bracket

  • Do not push, rub, or strike the surface with your fingernail or sharp object, as this may lead to scratches on the screen and image distortion.
  • Do not use chemicals such as wax, benzene, alcohol, thinners, insecticides, room air fresheners, lubricants, as they may damage the finish of the screen and cause discoloration.

To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the case with a dry, clean, soft cloth.

To remove persistent dirt, wipe the casing with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or water that contains a small amount of mild detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

  • Do not spray liquids on the surface. If water enters the totem, it can lead to fire, electric shock, or malfunction.
  • Do not use chemicals as they may damage the surface.

Power cord

  • Regularly remove dust or dirt accumulated on the power cord.
  • Make sure the plug terminals are compliant.

Avoid the "Image burn" or "Burn-in" effect on the totem screen

  • If a still image is displayed on the totem screen for a long time, it will print and become a permanent distorted spot on the screen. This is the "image burn" or "burn-in" effect and is not covered by the warranty.
  • If the totem frame rate is set to 4: 3 for a long time, the image burn effect may appear in the writing area of the screen.
  • Avoid displaying a still image on the TV screen for a long time (2 or more hours for the LCD) to prevent the "image burn" effect.

TROUBLESHOOTING

General


Case

Solution

The totem cannot be turned on.

  • Unplug the power cord and plug it back in after 2 minutes, and then try to turn it back on.
  • Check the voltage at the 220V power outlet
  • Check that the UPS is turned on

No picture is displayed and no sound is produced.

  • Check that the product is turned on.
  • Check that the power cord is connected to a wall outlet.
  • Check if there is a problem with the wall outlet by connecting other products

Images appear slowly when the totem starts.

  • Scan your operating system with a powerful antivirus program.
  • If this still doesn't work, contact your local authorized service center.

Unable to connect external devices.

  • See "Overview of connections" and connect an external device.

The totem stops suddenly.

  • Check the power control settings. Power may be interrupted.
  • Check that the Self-timer feature is enabled in the time settings.
  • If the problem persists, contact your local authorized service center.
  • If the totem has a general safety, check if it is in the ON position.
  • If the totem has a differential fuse, press the reset button on it and then start, and try to set the fuse to the on position.

Audio

No sound is produced while running.

  • Press the button + or -from the operating system.
  • Make sure the sound is muted by pressing MUTE.
  • Check the sound card driver.
  • Check whether or not the played content has sound.

There is no output to one of the speakers

  • Adjust the Balance option in the sound settings of the operating system.
  • For double-sided totems, one speaker is for one screen, the other speaker is for the second screen.

There is an unusual sound inside the totem.

  • A change in humidity or ambient temperature may result in unusual noise when the product is turned on or off. Contact your local authorized service center.

Unable to connect external devices.

  • See "Overview of connections" and connect an external device.

Horizontal or vertical bars appear or images fade

  • Check for local interference, such as an electrical appliance or a power tool.

Remaining images (ghosts) appear when the product is stopped

  • Pixels may have been damaged due to a long time image display. Use a screen saver to prevent damage to the pixels on the screen.

Power is turned on, but the screen looks extremely dark.

  • Adjust the brightness and contrast of the operating system.
"No signal" appears on the screen.
  • Check the input source. 
  • Contact your local authorized service center.
Black spots appear on the screen.
  • Multiple red, green, white, or black pixels may appear on the screen, which can be attributed to the characteristics of the LCD panel.
  • This may be normal.

Operations specific to Outdoor equipment

  • For the installation of Outdoor equipment with floor placement, it is necessary to prepare a perfectly flat concrete surface (if it is to be mounted on a soft ground area).
  • Totem Digital Romania offers you the quotas for the concrete foundation, depending on the equipment.
  • Usually, the sole is separated from the rest of the equipment, this being the first part of the whole, which will be mounted on the foundation.
  • In the equipment box you will receive all the screws necessary to fasten it in the concrete foundation.
  • Make sure you pull a tube through the center of the foundation to secure a 220V power cable and a UTP cable to the internet.
  • Also, for air conditioning equipment, be sure to leave a condensate drain.
  • After you have installed the sole of the equipment, follow the positioning of its body on the sole and then attach the sole with the screws provided in the package, inside the equipment.
  • At the same time, these equipments are provided with metal ears at the top, in order to be anchored with the help of a lifting machine, their weight being considerable.
  • After positioning and fixing on the sole, the ears will come off, and will be kept for a possible move of the equipment.
